Position Summary:

The Water Services Practice Leader (WSPL) is a specialist with expertise in pressure pipeline assessment and design that serves to benefit the pursuit of new business and execution of specialized services. The WSPL will have the authority to influence the core services of their discipline along with operational oversight, marketing, training, hiring and promotion of the service. The WSPL is a direct liaison between corporate support services, departments and operating units.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead sales effort and meet annual bookings goals for the water and pressure pipe services practice. Works in team environment to leverage assets of the business unit and the water and pressure pipe service Line to position, win, execute and deliver work.
  • Develop and roll-out marketing strategy at the corporate and regional levels. Conduct internal training of service offerings. Conduct presentations to potential clients, at workshops and industry trade shows.
  • Manage P&L and meet annual budgeting goals for the practice.
  • Remain informed of new methods and developments affecting the water and pressure pipe business and recommend new practices and changes to existing services. Develop and implement best-in-class products and services solutions through continuous improvement and investment
  • Develop pricing standards, proposals, statements of qualification, marketing strategy, contract documentation, scopes of service and other related elements in support of earning new business.
  • Passion for innovation, optimizing efficiency and improving production results for core discipline.
  • Assist in the hiring and development of staff within the practice. Supervises a growing staff of engineers and technicians. Participate in developing and implementing corporate discipline training programs. Administer skills development measurement and tracking systems.
  • Act in a lead role for projects, leveraging expertise, experience and capabilities. Plan, schedule, coordinate and perform the preparation of documents, work plans and activities for multiple projects.
  • Make improvements to work product, processes, standard operating procedures, and methodologies. Develop Quality Assurance programs and ensure Quality Control procedures are applied throughout all operating regions
  • Coordinate with operating units to optimize utilization of resources overcoming potential labor shortages or excess availability.
  • Interface with software developer to implement relevant software applications into services and client deliverables.

Minimum Skills and Experience

  • B.S. degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience with 5 or more years of applicable experience in the practice
  • 15 years’ consulting experience, with increasing levels of project and client responsibilities for public sector water and wastewater projects.
  • A minimum 10 years project management and client management experience.
  • Successful track record of building client relationships in the water and wastewater field, with a reputation for being highly responsive and delivering quality work.
  • A successful track record of managing projects scope, schedule and budget compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to convey information effectively; understand ideas and information presented in writing and verbally; including presentations
  • Strong client management and new business development skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities and ability to coach and mentor staff.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • M.S. degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related from an accredited institution
  • 20+ years’ consulting experience, with increasing levels of project and client responsibilities for public sector water and wastewater projects.
  • Successful track record of building client relationships in the water and wastewater field, with a reputation for being highly responsive and delivering quality work.
  • A successful track record building a highly efficient technical team
  • Successful track record earning new business and establishing long-term client relationships
  • Strong leadership qualities and ability to coach and mentor staff.
