JOB TITLE: SPEECH PATHOLOGIST


PROGRAM:
CHILDREN’S THERAPEUTIC PRESCHOOL


HOURS:
Dependent on number of Student IEPs


QUALIFICATIONS:

Certification in Speech Pathology. Experience with young children preferred.


DUTIES
:

  • Responsible for carrying out the speech goals in the Department of Education Individualized Education Plan
  • Responsible for evaluating and treating students with disabilities, maintaining daily session notes and attendance records, writing progress reports, attending IEP meetings and recommending adaptive equipment, environmental accommodations or assistive technology. In addition to these services provided to students on their caseloads, speech pathologist work collaboratively with teachers, other school staff and parents/guardians to serve the school community in a variety of ways
  • Participation in the Academic Intervention Team/Pupil Personnel Team
  • Provide observation in classroom or other school environment
  • Consult with teachers to offer classroom-based strategies
  • Attend meetings that support student programming (e.g. school meetings, parent meetings)
  • Support students activities that are in the natural environment or general education curriculum (e.g., social skills activities, classroom activities, language-based tasks, staff in-service and professional development (e.g., in-service to teachers on developing fine motor centers, transfer training for paraprofessionals)
  • Recommend appropriate speech and language training
  • Link parents/guardians to appropriate community-based resources
  • Design home speech and oral motor programs and related activities for carryover
  • Support school compliance and data tracking
