Skid Steer Operator/Loader – Martinsburg, WV

Our Material Biological Treatment plant in Martinsburg, WV and our Recycling Facility in Hagerstown, MD is searching for an experienced Skid Steer/Loader Operator. The ideal candidate has several years of heavy equipment operational experience, is safety focused and proactive in seeking opportunities to improve performance and gain efficiencies in daily tasks.

Incumbent must be ready, willing, and able to commit to the responsibility that comes with the role. This may mean working overtime, or odd hours in the event mechanical repairs are needed.

REPORTS TO: MRFGeneral Manager, Operations Supervisor

STATUS: Non-Exempt

General Summary


Repairs and maintains equipment by performing the following duties. Additional duties may be added as needed.

Essential Functions


  • Has in-depth knowledge of heavy equipment operating procedures.
  • Conducts basic cleaning and inspection as required.
  • Follows specified recording and reporting procedures,
  • Ability to sense and identify mechanical or operational issues and report to the appropriate person.
  • Understanding of function and maintenance requirements of processing and facility equipment.
  • Understanding of mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to work various hours and flexible shifts when needed.
  • Follows all safety procedures as set by Apple Valley Waste and OSHA.
  • Helps maintain cleanliness of facility and maintenance areas.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision

Experience operating Skid/Steer loaders with impeccable safety record.

Physical Demands


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
