Senior News Assistant – New York, NY 10036

With Zach Wichter’s departure , we are looking for a senior news assistant to be fully embedded on the Business desk. This role is a diverse one, requiring an organized, curious multi-tasker with an interest in Business news.

The ideal candidate will be expected to do any or all of the following:

  • Write a weekly column of commercial real estate transactions in New York City

  • Format and schedule the “Your Money” newsletter on Mondays

  • Manage Business desks social media accounts

  • Update the Business web section front as needed

  • Compile and distribute a weekly news calendar on Fridays

  • Monitor a selection of market indicators daily

  • Format Quarterly Mutual Fund tables in InDesign

  • Assist photo editors with Merlin research and help coordinate local photo shoots

  • Track search trends

  • Report and research breaking news stories as needed

  • Answer phones and emails, assist reporters and editors with mail, conference room booking, supply orders etc.
