TITLE: Assistant Manager, or Restaurant Manager
POSITION SUMMARY: Directs and oversee all activities of a mid-sized restaurant in accordance with standardized policies in order to provide efficient, friendly services and profitable operations. Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including late evenings and weekends.
Handles all staffing responsibilities, including hiring, training, management, scheduling, evaluating, and terminating.
Purchases all FOH beverages and supplies and oversees use of food and beverages within required dates and with a minimum of waste.
Supervises staff in terms of food preparation, customer service, cleaning, and repairs to restaurant and grounds.
Maintains security of money, financials, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and supplies.
Promotes cooperative effort, a team spirit, and good morale among employees.
Delivers excellent customer service including personally greeting and seating guests.
Resolves complaints from customers in a polite, friendly manner.
Performs daily inspections and periodic audits to check safety of equipment and to ensure that food is cooked properly. Addresses problems involving the cost, installation, and maintenance of such equipment.
Participates in training about standardized policies and confers regularly with owner management about restaurant operations.
Controls labor by understanding the flow of everyday business, looking at prior history, realizing the happenings in the community.
Provides regular, accurate, computerized reports of operations to owner management.
Helps with duties of other employees (i.e. bartender, server, food runner, busser, reservationist, banquet coordinator, cook, etc.) when necessary because of expected and unexpected absence or extra volume.
Responds to customer and community interests such as donation requests.
May assist with large party planning or catering; including drafting contracts, collecting deposits and creating special menus.
Manages schedules for FOH and ensures appropriate coverage for all positions.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Must be able to work late evenings and weekends.

MINIMUM at least 2 years experience working in reputable dining establishments with fresh and creative menus.
MINIMUM at least 1 in a similar role with previous management experience; successful completion of progressive business management training program helpful.
Proven track record of stability and long-term growth success with employers.
Knowledge and ability to work any FOH position.
Strong computer skills, including POS, Microsoft Excel and Word Processing programs.
Knowledge of proper ordering and receiving standards and procedures.
High school diploma, GED certificate, or demonstration of sufficient reading and math skills to read manuals and prepare computer reports as required; hospitality and restaurant management certification or college degree preferred.
Excellent customer service. Treats patrons like family.
Strong communication skills to train and motivate employees.
Strong time management skills and accuracy to deal with a variety of duties and prepare reports according to schedule.
