The Youth Risk and Resilience Laboratory at Old Dominion University is seeking a full-time Research Associate to assist with a multi-site (ODU, Rutgers University, Massachusetts General Hospital) project focused on understanding short-term risk for suicidal behaviors in youth (project funded by the National Institute of Mental Health). For this project, adolescents will be intensely monitored (ecological momentary assessment via smartphone and wrist actigraphy) during the month following discharge from acute psychiatric hospitalization for suicide risk. The Research Associate will gain experience with all aspects of the research process, including opportunities to present data at academic conferences and assist with manuscript preparation. The position is for 2 years, available in April 2021, and renewable for subsequent years subject to the availability of funding. This position is ideal for individuals looking for clinical research experience before pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology or related field. Adolescent and parent recruitment, screening, scheduling, and retention in study.
Administering and scoring clinical (diagnostic) interviews and other research protocol components, with adolescents and their parents.
Managing administrative duties for grant-funded project, including preparing study materials, monitoring data entry, preparing, and cleaning data, paying participants, and other research administrative duties.
Preparing and maintaining Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols related to the project.
Training and supervising undergraduate research assistants to assist with the project.
Coordinating local and multi-site research team meetings.
Conducting literature reviews and assisting with manuscript preparation.
Other duties as assigned
