Quality Control Technician – Palo Alto, CA

Maxar is seeking a Quality Control Technician located in Palo Alto, CA.


  • Evaluate and implement protocols and methods to inspect and test in-process raw materials and finished products and ensure that they are in compliance with internal and external safety, quality and regulatory standards requirements for distribution.

  • Perform analysis and identify trends in the inspection of finished products, in-process materials and bulk raw materials.

  • Prepare documentation for inspection/testing procedures.

  • Evaluate and analyze the efforts in organizing, documenting and interpreting inspection support documents and records.

  • May assure compliance to in-house and/or external specifications and standards (i.e., GLP, GMP, ISO, Six Sigma).

  • Interpret complex drawing, blueprints, schematics, standards, procedures, process specifications and test data for verifications purposes.

  • Perform complex inspection functions where detailed information is not provides.

  • Determine methods, operations and sequences necessary to make or verify setups to inspect in process and final electronic systems, and precision electromechanical assemblies and subassemblies.

  • Check components and assemblies for adequate markings/labels

  • Verify stores/receiving inspection procedures

  • Perform process, hardware configuration and manufacturing audits

  • Conduct test surveillance and test set verifications

  • Assist Quality engineers with the Material Review Boars functions and provide support to the Working Corrective Action Board and special audit teams.

  • May provide off-site support for Quality Control Inspections

  • Interface with manufacturing and engineering personnel concerning quality conformance issues.

  • Prepare quality trend reports

  • Document results of inspections, tests, and audits on computer databases

  • Ability to learn, quickly and on the job (OJT).

  • Some Administrative tasks (scheduling) could be part of this job for the right candidate

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a High School Diploma

  • Minimum of four (4) years of related experience.

  • Familiarity with hand and small power tools, and complex measuring and testing devices such as microscopes, calipers, toque gauges and pull testers.

  • Familiarity with computer operations, spreadsheet ad work

  • Experience with MS Office, including (but not limited to) Word, Powerpoint, Access, MS Project and Excel. (Visual Basic and Macro Experience is a plus)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Software programs such as but not limited to Filemaker Pro, MS Access and the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Knowledge and understanding of relational database systems, e.g. Filemaker Pro, MySQL
  • Knowledge and Experience with Web-Based Frameworks
