Our Staff Physician (Anesthesiologist) will have a range of responsibilities relating to providing medical care to our patients. The Staff Physician (Anesthesiologist) will closely monitor patients’ vital signs during surgeries, adjusting anesthetics accordingly, as well as monitoring patients through their first recovery stages after operations, and administering appropriate medications during recovery. The Staff Physician (Anesthesiologist) will also treat patients during painful invasive procedures and childbirths, performing all assigned duties while displaying the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct, as well as acting in the best interest of GRMC supporting our mission, vision, and values to optimize the health and well-being of our patients. Specifically, our Staff Physician (Anesthesiologist) will perform the following duties:

  • Examine patients before and after anesthesia, obtain medical histories, and write pre- and post-anesthesia orders;
  • Use patient history and diagnostic tests to determine risks during surgical, obstetrical, and other medical procedures;
  • Create anesthesia plans;
  • Confirm that the patients are ready for anesthesia before inductions;
  • Help prepare patients for emergency surgeries;
  • Position patients on the operating tables to maximize patient comfort and surgical accessibility;
  • Administer anesthesia or sedation during medical procedures, using local, intravenous, spinal, regional, or caudal methods;
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after anesthesia, and counteract adverse reactions or complications;
  • Provide and maintain life support and airway management;
  • Record the type and amount of anesthesia used and the patient's condition throughout the procedure;
  • Decide when patients have recovered or stabilized enough to be sent to another room or to be sent home following outpatient


  • Follow patients as long as is appropriate in the post-anesthesia period;
  • Create treatment plans and write orders on patients charts, which are transcribed and implemented by the appropriate staff;
  • Confer with other medical professionals to determine whether a patient's medical status is optimized prior to surgery;
  • Coordinate and direct work of nurse anesthetists, anesthesiologist assistants, medical technicians, and other healthcare


  • Initiate appropriate specialty referrals;
  • Ensure that proper patient documentation is timely, accurate, complete, and compliant with office, hospital, and government


  • Work with practice management to ensure proper compliance with billing, coding, and CPT/ASA code assignments;
  • Encourage increased patient understanding and involvement in care and treatment decisions;
  • Participate in the development of medical services, including protocols, standard procedures, and management of patient-care

related activities;

  • Provide on-call coverage as necessary to care for group practice patients of other physicians;
  • Give feedback to and accept feedback from all staff in a respectful manner; and
  • Act in a positive and professional manner, complying with practice policies, procedures, and federal state laws.

REQUIREMENTS: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or foreign equivalent, Board Certification in Internal Medicine (equiv. to 36 months of training), Completion of Residency in Anesthesiology (equiv. to 36 months of training), and Completion of Critical Care Anesthesiology Fellowship (equiv. to 12 months of training), and a Territory of Guam Medical License.
