Position: Product Design Engineer / SolidWorks
Reports to: Engineering Manager
TruckVault, the growing industry leader for in-vehicle secure storage seeks a Production Design Engineer who is well versed in SolidWorks for our Engineering and Design Department to help develop a steady stream of new products and improvements. This position has good potential for career growth in all areas. Necessary training will be provided as it relates to the projects/tasks. This position using SolidWorks and AutoCAD help design, engineer or modify products to add to the already large library of TruckVault standard offerings. This position includes helping transfer of our standard spec drawings from AutoCAD 2D to SolidWorks 3D. The majority of the TruckVault product line is wood products with use of metal and plastic as accessories. This position is responsible for helping design, test, & implement new wood products with metal on the horizon. The position will also include transferring existing 2D files to 3D SolidWorks.
Duties & Responsibilities
Help transfer 2D CAD drawings to 3D models in SolidWorks
Create all supporting documentation for manufacturing using existing data
Create standards, specification drawings, & quality guidelines showing basic tolerances
Create installation instructions for all TruckVault products using SolidWorks and/or Excel
Design TruckVault models using metal and wood components
Equipment used in this position: SolidWorks 2019 AutoCAD LT 2013, Draftsight, Word, Excel, Outlook.
Job Qualifications (Knowledge, skills, and abilities):
Proficient in SolidWorks
Previous experience in wood products manufacturing
Maintain a positive attitude, even under pressure
Able to manage several activities at once and adapt quickly as circumstances change.
Work well in a fast paced team environment with multiple daily interruptions
Have the ability to work independently with little supervision
Any experience with CNC machinery or programming
Sheet metal design experience
Hands on skills with sheet metal / wood / cabinetry
