Plant Accountant – Hereford, TX

Position Title: Plant Accountant

Classification: Nonexempt

Reports To: Plant Controller

Supervised: None

POSITION PURPOSE: Primarily responsible for supporting the plant controller in his/her daily, weekly, and monthly tasks, and helping to ensure the accuracy and reasonableness of the plant financial statements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  • Review for accuracy then record daily manufacturing – usage and consumption
  • Enter/post daily grain receipts and create grain settlements
  • Daily posting and invoicing of all ethanol sales
  • Apply payments received to correct invoices and make sure payments are received timely
  • Fill out netback worksheet daily and double check marketer at month end
  • Learn about CI and how to calculate it
  • Enter all contracts for AR and AP
  • Enter all new vendors after verifying proper paperwork has been received
  • Help ensure 1099 information is accurate for all vendors
  • Enter monthly payroll entries for controller to review and post
  • Work with the Plant Controller to perform all month end closing duties on time including BS recons
  • Assist the Plant Controller in maintaining accurate books and records for the plant
  • Assist the Plant Controller in producing accurate and timely plant financial statements
  • Fill out and submit monthly govt reports, including Tonnage Taxes and Sorghum Checkoff
  • Research, track, and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Create and enter quarterly benchmarking data into C&A website
  • Help AP Clerk as needed
  • Fill in for Plant Controllers and AP Clerks for vacations and unexpected circumstances
  • Assist with any upcoming projects
  • Assist Plant Controller with various initiatives
  • Assist the plant controller in ensuring proper internal controls are in place for the integrity of the financial statements
  • Provide support to the front desk in assisting customers and vendors
  • ER Portal assistance as it relates to accounting
  • Assist with inventory control, including cycle counting, parts tracking, etc
  • Help streamline existing processes
  • Verify the items received are accurate per the PO and notate any differences/missing items
  • Help with projects to correct problem areas in the inventory like pumps, gauges, ghost inventory, etc
  • Assist with organizing and general housekeeping of warehouse
  • Other duties as needed such as uploading invoices to ER Portal, filing, etc

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other business-related area
  • 1 to 3 years of experience preferred in accounting, financial planning and analysis, inventory or asset control at a renewable fuel’s organization, but will train the right candidate
  • General GAAP understanding.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills with the ability to manipulate spreadsheets, create pivot tables and summarize data from multiple sources
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and with the team with strong follow through
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Organizational skills

PHYSICAL STRENGTH:

This job may require lifting of up to 50 pounds occasionally.
