How You’ll Make a Difference:
Responsible for high-level network strategies, design and optimization of enterprise network infrastructure. Determines standards for implementation and configuration of software, hardware and system capabilities. Acts as the highest resource for problem determination using sophisticated diagnostic tools and trending.
Architects fault tolerant network infrastructure strategies that meet the needs of the enterprise that are cost effective and adhere to standards of reliability, availability and serviceability.
Develops documentation of configuration, troubleshooting practices and network changes made.
Directs integration of components (eg., servers, switches, routers, physical cabling, etc) supplied by multiple vendors into a single unified network. Coordinates assessment methods and develops criteria.
Performs the highest level of diagnostic and analysis capabilities. Develops problem trending and associated strategies.
Requires the highest technical knowledge of all network infrastructure and networking protocols along with impact and risk analysis. Requires detailed understanding of the inter-relationships between applications and network impact.
Acts as a source of direction, training, quality assurance and guidance for team members. May provide input for performance appraisals. Acts as technical project leader for large technical complex projects with high risk.
Develops strategies and direction for network solutions using emerging technologies. Evaluates, develops criteria, recommends and justifies new IT developments and evolving business requirements. Evaluates vendor viability before making business case. Participates in approving appropriate network design alternatives and/or enhancements to current and/or new systems.
Works closely with cross functional teams or vendor representatives to determine standard data traffic analysis for application base lining or detailed problem determination and analysis using specialized diagnostic tools.
Monitors network performance, ensures capacity planning is performed and is proactive in assessing and making recommendations for improvements.
Resolves escalates desk tickets and coordinates issue resolution across multiple functional teams.
What it Will Take:
Licenses & Certifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
Required Functional Experience
Typically requires 5 years of experience in infrastructure/network environments performing network engineering (hardware and software) and designing, planning, and implementing LANs and WANs using the latest technology.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Advanced understanding of distributed systems architecture and comprehensive knowledge of multiple technical disciplines. Advanced technical knowledge and aptitude in the areas of networks, network topologies, applicable software, and troubleshooting techniques.Demonstrated experience to lead, guide, and develop staff.Strong ability to exercise judgment and creativity in analyzing and solving unusual complex or ambiguous problems or situations that arise. Good interpersonal skills and ability to provide excellent customer service.Excellent organizational and communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse client population. Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently, manage priorities, and complete assignments in a timely manner and meet productivity standards. Confidentiality and good organizational skills.Ability to work within a fast-paced, challenging environmentAbility to effectively handle customer contacts and problem resolution.Excellent keyboarding skills and workstation (personal computer) user proficiency and working knowledge of using MS Office.
