Description of Duties/Essential Functions
Under general direction, conducts highly complex and specialized reviews of medical claims submitted by medical providers for care and services extended to medical assistance recipients; interprets medical treatment, medical equipment, pharmaceuticals and billings to ensure medical procedures meet the State/Federal guidelines; confers with Department Supervisors and represents the Department in meetings.
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with licensure in one of the following specialties: Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Speech/Language Pathologist, Respiratory Therapist, Physical Therapist, or Occupational Therapist. Requires three years professional experience in field related medical (mental and Physical) treatment and care. Requires extensive knowledge of medical treatment casework principles and techniques, federal, state and local legislation and agency requirements pertinent to public assistance, medical care and rehabilitation assistance. Requires working knowledge of social and medical social work literature, individual, health, rehabilitation and educational needs and community and state resources. Requires ability to direct and give effective consultation and instruction related to professional medical services.
