Materials Testing Technician – Pittsburgh, PA 15216

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Field concrete, soil density, and asphalt density testing
  • Laboratory Testing of soil, rock, concrete, and asphalt
  • Construction Inspection – Earthwork, Fill, Foundation, etc.
  • Input Field and Laboratory Testing Reports using multiple software applications
  • Regularly communicate with clients to ensure quality of work and address client concerns and expectations
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment
  • Personal vehicle required for travel to office, transport required Ackenheil equipment/samples to and from job sites (hourly and mileage compensation)

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 2-3 years Field experience working on commercial construction projects performing some or all of the following inspections or testing:
  • Earthwork inspections and field testing
  • Concrete and grout sampling and field testing
  • Laboratory Soil, Rock, Concrete, and Asphalt Testing
  • Soil and Asphalt Density Field Testing
  • High School education necessary; College degree, preferred
  • Ability to interpret project plans and specifications
  • Strong computer skills including using Microsoft Office
  • Ability to write accurate and concise field reports
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid Driver’s License required

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing, sitting, lifting, reaching high and low, stooping, and bending, able to carry up to 50 pounds
  • Able to travel per the company travel policy
  • Able to concentrate at a high degree in a busy and noisy construction environment
  • Able to work in all types of weather

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $15.00 to $20.00 /hour
