Now hiring a long-term substitute for grades 9-11 guidance counselor position. The counselor is responsible for assisting students with their academic success and social development. As a member of the School Support Team, the Student Success Guidance Counselor will promote and implement equity and access for all students, families, and staff members in service of achieving the mission and vision of creating the nursing workforce of the future. Bilingual candidate English and Spanish desired.

REPORTS TO: Director of School Culture and CommunityDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: LeadershipCommunicates verbally and in writing with the School Leadership Team around problems related to student socio-emotional well-being and academic habitsEstablishes an equitable and inclusive school climate, where students are at the helm of educational practices.Community Engagement & Relationship-BuildingCreates and strategically develops positive relationships with all members of the school community (students, teachers, families)Leads school events that encourage community connection to and investment in the school culture and student success, including recognition assemblies, parent workshops, and family and community service eventsEffectively communicates with the community to create positive support, understanding, and participation for continued school improvementAssists with all requirements of the recruitment, the charter school lottery process and enrollment of new studentsMaintains knowledge and skills for working in a diverse and multicultural school communityStudent Support Systems and ActivitiesConsults and partners with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop strategies to help students with issues regarding academic performance, truancy, and individual and classroom behavioral issues, as requestedCollaborates with grade-level teams to implement school-wide RINI SEL practices that are equitable across all grades, ensuring that content is grade/age-appropriateMaintains a data-driven practice; utilizes and interprets assessment results and school records for students, parents, and other faculty membersConsistently demonstrates respect and appreciation for others in the RINI community by empathizing, valuing their time and contributions, being available and responsive to their needsThe RI Nurses Institute Middle College (RINIMC) is an innovative Rhode Island charter high school founded by the nursing profession in 2011 as a solution to increase diversity of underrepresented racial and ethnic groups in the nursing workforce. This unique model serves students in grades 9-12 in a fully immersed nursing college and career pathway program, NCCPP high school curriculum. RINIMC graduates earn a high school diploma, workforce certificates, and college credits that transfer to a post-secondary degree in nursing or other advanced healthcare provider degree program.
