Lodge Desk Clerk – DNR/Hawks Nest State Park – Fayette Co. – Fayette County, WV

Department of Commerce/ Division of Natural Resources (DNR)/ Division of Parks and Recreation/ Hawk’s Nest State Park, Fayette Co. – Under general supervision of the Superintendent of Hawks Nest State Park, and at the full-performance level, this employee performs all duties required by a front desk clerk. Accepts and generates guest reservations and cancellations; charge deposits; checks guest in and out of the lodge rooms; and answers guest requests by phone, email, and in person. Acts as the information center for the park by answering questions and providing information about Hawks Nest and other area parks and regional attractions. This employee may act as a salesperson and function planner by communicating with potential clients through electronic media and personal meetings to “book” and plan functions. These events could be private events such as a wedding or reception or could be a conference or group event. As the planner for the event, the coordinator works with the client to determine the entire needs whether it may be function space, audio visual or other equipment, food and beverage, staffing, and other supporting elements. Coordinates the activity with all other park departments. Assists the Superintendent in establishing relationships within the regional business community with an eye towards expanding guest opportunities and revenue production. Regular attendance is required. Performs related duties as required.

Training: Education equivalent to graduation from a four-year high school.

Experience: No previous experience necessary.

A combination of completion of the eighth grade and one year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in retail sales or reservation/registration-desk-related work may substitute for the training.
