TechFlow is looking for a Locksmith to installs, repairs, modifies, and opens a variety of locking mechanisms found on doors, desks, compartments, mobile equipment, safes, and vaults. The Locksmith examines locking mechanism and installs new unit or disassembles unit and replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts or repairs them by filing, drilling, chiseling and grinding, opens door locks by moving lock pick in cylinder or opens safe locks by listening to lock sounds or drilling. The Locksmith makes new or duplicate keys, using key cutting machine, changes combination by inserting new or repaired tumblers into lock, and establishes keying systems for buildings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safety precautions to be observed in the maintenance and installation of electronic and mechanical equipment.
  • Install, repair and maintain commercial lockable hardware such as doors, automatic electric door, windows, lockers and magnetic keying systems to ensure safety of facilities.
  • Produce and/or modify hardware for locks.
  • Make new keys; replace broken or lost keys.
  • Develop a biting list and maintain master key system.
  • Cleans, maintains, adjusts, calibrates and services equipment used in the performance of duties.
  • Maintains appropriate service and repair records.
  • Researches, purchases and inventories equipment parts, chemicals and supplies.
  • Responds to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service.
  • May train and direct the work of others.
  • Assists and serves as back up to other Structural shop employees.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2-5 years' trade experience.

  • Performance Requirements:
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective technical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Thorough knowledge of the practices and procedures of the methods, materials and tools used in the locksmith trade, including complex access and control systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of all types of locks, fastening devices and related hardware.
  • Working knowledge of electrical locking and security systems and devices.
  • Understanding of applicable code requirements, including those regulations pertaining to fire exits and door hardware.
  • Ability to work from plans and specifications.
  • Knowledge of methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective technical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in both rough and finished carpentry in commercial/industrial settings; applicable building and safety code requirements; methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of building architectural/structural elements including; alterations and repairs.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent amounts of technical training and experience.

Certification Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires lifting and moving as much as 50 pounds as needed.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, stand, twist, stoop, reach, squat, walk and lift overhead. Performing duties may require prolonged periods of sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stooping. May be required to work at extreme heights. May also be required to climb ladders and enter confined spaces which may restrict movement.
