Position Summary:
This position entails the provision of direct care services to patients as well as mentorship and supervision of other Peer Recovery Supporters. The Lead Peer Recovery Supporter’s role is to provide hope and support others in recovery from a substance use disorder. They will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate and motivator to recovering individuals to help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery. The Peer Recovery Supporter must demonstrate an ability to share personal recovery experiences and to develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships. Provides individual and group services, including but limited to peer recovery support, case management, information and referral, consultation, and crisis intervention. Participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning, and acts as liaison with other service providers in matters pertaining to individual patients. Provides guidance and direction to Peer Recovery Support staff as assigned.

Essential Job Duties:
Assist with training and development process for new PRS staff;
Regularly meet with all PRS staff individually or in small groups to provide ongoing guidance and education on peer recovery support activities;
Act as coordinator for company-wide peer support initiatives;
Maintain project logs, reports and records in appropriate files and database(s);
Provide recovery education to individuals for every stage of change from pre-contemplation to sustained recovery maintenance;
Provide a model for both people in recovery and staff by demonstrating that recovery is possible, in a positive and professional manner;
Assist individuals to identify their personal interests, goals, strengths and areas of improvement regarding recovery;
Assist individuals in developing their own plan for progressing their recovery;
Promote self-advocacy by assisting individuals in expressing their voice, needs, goals and objectives;
Actively identify and support linkages to community resources (communities of recovery, educational, vocational, social, cultural, spiritual resources, mutual self- help groups, professional services, etc.) that support the individual’s goals and interests;
Support connections to community based, mutual self-help groups;
Link individuals to appropriate professional resources, including but not limited to, case managers, counselors, physicians, nurse practitioners, and/or psychiatrist;
Provide vision-driven hope and encouragement for opportunities at varying levels of involvement in community-based activities (e.g., work, school, relationships, physical activity, self-directed hobbies, etc.);
Identify barriers (internal and external) to full participation in community resources and developing strategies to overcome those barriers;
Provide recovery education to individuals for every stage of change from pre-contemplation to sustained recovery maintenance;
Communicate needs of patients to the appropriate staff member, including but not limited to case manager, counselors, physicians, nurse practitioners, and/or psychiatrist;
Co-facilitate or Facilitate evidence-based group therapy sessions;
May provide various other services as needed including but not limited to case management;
Assure documentation is completed in compliance with contract regulatory agency requirements and best clinical practices;
Complete documentation utilizing the agency's designated Electronic Medical Record, within specified timeframe;
Provide crisis interventions and de-escalation techniques; and
Attend required meetings including but not limited to: individual and group supervision, treatment team meeting, and quarterly in-service.

Required Education/Degree:

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred

Required Certification/License and Experience:

Certified Peer Recovery Supporter with supervision designation and active CDCA Phase 1 or higher; 2+ years of Peer Recovery Support experience
