Perform highly complex analytic processes using routine and specialized automated and non-automated lab procedures and/or techniques with limited supervision.
Operate lab instruments and perform troubleshooting and maintenance as needed to ensure proper functioning of lab equipment and document equipment maintenance activities.
Serve as lead within the team to responds to technical questions of junior staff and assist with employee training.
Assist department supervisor to ensure accuracy of data and that turnaround goals are met.
Calibrate lab instruments to ensure accuracy of test results. Perform QC procedures and maintain QC documentation required to meet accrediting agency standards.
Prepare lab specimens for analysis and determine acceptability of samples within guidelines.
Validate acceptability of test results by reviewing QC and all other test parameters.
Identify technical, instrumental and/or physiologic causes of unexpected test results.
Evaluate and calculate QC statistics to assess accuracy, reproducibility and validity of lab methods.
Monitor QA and assist in data collection and preparation of QA indicators.
Assist QC Specialist in performing lot-to-lot and analyzer-to-analyzer testing.
Help to ensure that all employees are complying with safety and hazard guidelines.
Maintain ethical standards in the performance of testing and in interactions with patients, co-workers and other health care professionals, ensuring data security and patient confidentiality.
Work with Supervisor to coordinate workflow and prioritize order of testing based on priority of request, workload and testing schedules to meet turnaround times.
Work with other team leads or supervisors to communicate change to lab procedures
Conduct regular check-ins with staff and provide input supervisor for staff performance reviews
Maintain adequate inventory of reagents and supplies and be proactive to suggest cost-effective lab procedures or changes
