JEREMY Corbyn has said if he was to become prime minister, he would trigger a border poll in line with the terms of the Good Friday Agreement – which stipulates that a vote can only be called if there is evidence that a majority in Northern Ireland would support reunification.

Mr Corbyn then confirmed he believes there is majority support for Irish unity. However on Scotland’s proposed referendum Scottish Labour members dismissed suggestions the country was ready to revisit its independence question by indicating that there was no appetite for such a poll, despite the biggest independence march and rally on record having taken place just this month with over 90,000 Scots said to have participated.
Labour MSPs sided with the Scottish Tories in dismissing the high figures as a flash in the pan.
