GENERAL SUMMARY: The IT Architect analyzes the activities of a particular business unit or line of business and makes recommendations pertaining to the projects that the business unit should perform, in addition to relevant and timely corrections to the governance structure, business processes, and the structure of business information. This person illustrates the alignment (or lack thereof) between strategic goals and key business decisions regarding products and services; partners and suppliers; organization; capabilities; and key business and IT initiatives. The primary focus of this person’s work includes the analysis of business motivations and business operations, through the use of business analysis frameworks and related networks that link these aspects of the enterprise together. The IT Architect works to develop an integrated view of the business unit, in the context of the enterprise, using a repeatable approach, cohesive framework, and available industry standard techniques. Leads and mentors staff. Defines and leads strategic direction for IT applications and infrastructure systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
Develops an IT architecture strategy for the business unit based on a situational awareness of various business scenarios and motivations.
Applies a structured IT architecture approach and methodology for capturing the key views of the business unit in the context of the enterprise.
Enumerates, analyzes, catalogs, and suggests improvements to the strategic, core and support IT processes of the business unit, as needed, to support strategic and operational goals.
Defines the data elements shared between this business unit and other units in the enterprise and the relationships between those data elements and people, process and technology.
Performs cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems/solutions to aid management in making implementation decisions.
Conducts research on software and systems products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
Interacts and negotiates with vendors and contractors to secure system related products and services.
Works with external/internal customers to identify technical solutions to business problems or inefficiencies.
Documents development requirements for database, applications and operation system environment.
Consults with external/internal customers to test and debug applications to meet client needs.
Serves as expertise in all aspects of designing and application development.
Participates as a team member in department projects where expertise is needed for analysis and problem solving.
Attends presentations and/or develops proposals, acting as the technical expert.
Analyzes various departmental processes to find cost-saving opportunities and recommend to appropriate decision-makers best approach to maximize savings.
Acts as an internal consultant in the IT department. Consults and provides recommendations to staff and management on system design issues. Identifies integrated solutions that support both organization objectives and departmental initiatives.
Defines system and application architecture and provides vision, problem anticipation, and problemsolving ability to the Information Technology department.
Demonstrates good business skills and works effectively to build relationships with client departments, management, clinicians and physicians.
Provides proactive, effective communication with verbal and written status reports, manages meetings and facilitates requirements, problem solving.
Maintains a positive work atmosphere in behaving and communicating in a manner that promotes favorable working relationships with customers, clients, co-workers and management
Maintains an understanding of the organization and the tools available in order to successfully plan work detail and schedule resources to meet target dates. Coordinates multiple activities, set priorities and provides direction to others.
Maintains an understanding of the industry-wide changes and trends of technology developments and applications.
Provides 24 x 7 support
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience required
12+ years of systems analysis experience; progressively more responsible experience in combinations of healthcare business management, project management, applicable information technology and systems installations.
