This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
Mechanics are responsible for keeping machinery running to maintain continuous production. This includes repairing and maintaining the equipment used in the pork processing industry.
Troubleshoot problems that occur in the day- to-day operation of the facility.
Perform work involving hydraulics, electrical, plumbing, conveyor maintenance, 3-phase wiring, AC/CD control wiring, welding and pneumatic systems.
Set up, adjust and break down production line machinery and complete the required daily documentation.
Must be available to work all shifts, including weekends and overtime.
Must be able to communicate effectively with team members and management to resolve mechanical failures.
Must be able to read and understand manuals and document work completed.
Must be willing and able to climb ladders, work from elevated platforms, stand/walk on hard floors for 12 hours and occasionally lift from 0-50 lbs.
Must be willing and able to work around the sight and the smell of meat (pork) and bi-products present when processing meat.
Environment is wet, humid, hot and cold. Temperatures can range 35 to greater than 90 degrees.
High School Diploma, GED or 1 year On-The-Job-training.
Application and /or resume must show related work experience and/or training in these areas : must have 1 years’ experience and or education in at least two of the following General Maintenance related areas; Mechanical troubleshooting, Electrical/Electronic troubleshooting, Hydraulic troubleshooting, PLC troubleshooting and Navigation, Welding/Fabrication, AC/DC Control Wiring, Motor Control, 3 Phase Wiring, Plumbing, Conveyor Maintenance, Hydraulics, Pneumatic systems.
Preference given to internal qualified candidates currently employed at this facility followed by candidates from other Tyson facilities then external candidates.
