Job Title:
Gifted Teacher


  • Master’s Degree
  • Gifted Education Endorsement
  • At least five years of teaching experience

Reports to: Director of Pupil Personnel

Essential Duties:

  • Provides coordination and expertise to ensure systematic and continuous PreK-12
  • Submits appropriate reports to principals and the Director of Instruction
  • Communicates on an ongoing basis with principals and the Director of Instruction
  • Presents options of all exceptional needs of gifted students (differentiated educational plans (DEPs).
  • Presents and implements research-based procedures for identifying gifted and talented students.
  • Remains current on the latest research and development in gifted education.
  • Establishes and promotes communication and collaboration with the administration, staff, and parents.
  • Assists with revising and updating the Gifted Education Program based on evaluation results and latest developments in gifted education.
  • Assists with developing and coordinating public relations efforts. Maintains regular and predictable attendance
  • Authorizes the information options of all differentiated Educational Plans (DEPs).
  • Assists staff in developing specialized learning activities for students who have needs beyond the classroom curriculum to include’ cluster grouping, pull-out programs, cross-grade offerings, out of level offerings, college courses, internship, independent projects, etc.
  • Assist with parent advisory committee meetings
  • Attends meetings, conferences, conventions, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Requirements: Demonstrate overall good health.

Demonstrate ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner with others.

Terms of

Employment: 10 months; Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Evaluation: The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Sussex County School Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
