• Develop and demonstrate skills and services required to be a functional member of the Food & Beverage team at a Five Star level, through assigned line-level roles within the Division
- Enhance and present theoretical knowledge of hospitality business exercises, through scheduled classes and training initiatives on a regular basis
- Engage and maintain a Mentor-Trainee relationship, to learn the company culture, expectations and norms of an F&B Manager at the Five Star level
- Develop an initiative to seek out and execute tasks to further education on a proactive basis, using effective time management, resort resources and relationships
• Trainees must be at least 18 years old
- Trainees must be in excellent academic standing
- Trainees must be able to provide at least three employment references
- Trainees must be able to articulate future career goals and objectives, which are in alignment with the market segment, company culture and mission statement of The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort
- Trainees must be able to demonstrate two years’ work experience or educational background in the hospitality field
- Trainees must have excellent verbal and written English language skills
- Trainees must have either a round-trip air ticket or sufficient funds for return airfare to their home country
- Trainees must be proficient in, or capable of quickly learning, basic software and equipment functions
- Trainees must be willing and physically able to perform manual labor positions for durations and intensities consistent with expectations for all F&B employees

The Sanctuary Food & Beverage Department Manager in Training Program (MIT Program) is designed for long term Food & Beverage Management personnel. Potential candidates for this MIT position are those with prior Food & Beverage experience as well as recent Hospitality School students that also have prior experience. This position is designed to have the flexibility of learning various departments from a supervisory standpoint which will prepare them to become an Assistant Manager within the Food & Beverage within 18-28 months. Responsibilities: MIT will work for one of the following departments at a supervisory level based on the needs of the Food & Beverage at the time of their start date. The goal of the MIT in each department is to become experts in the line level competencies of each position in that department and absorb the basic operational standards. MIT will become experts in their area so they are able to coach and train individuals in that department. After completion, MIT will be able to apply for an open Assistant Manager position. The following are the departments the MIT will be placed into:
- Jasmine Porch (Three Meal, Resort Casual)
Up to 6 months – Host/Hostess – Buffet Attendant – Expediter – Server Assistant (AM and/or PM) – Supervisor
- Loggerhead Grill (Outdoor Pool & Beach Service)
Up to 6 months – Host/Hostess – Beach Attendant – Pool & Beach Server – Dining Area Server – Supervisor
- Ocean Room (Dinner Only, Fine Dining)
Up to 4 months – Host/Hostess – Food Runner – Server Assistant – Supervisor
- In-Room Dining (Room Service, Honor Bar, Ice Cream Shop)
Up to 4 months – Telephone Service Agent – Server – Honor Bar Attendant – Ice Cream Shop Attendant – Supervisor
- Banquets (Conventions, Meetings, Weddings, Events)
Up to 4 months – Steward – Set-Up – Bartender – Server – Supervisor
- Beaches and Cream
Up to 4 months – Retail Attendant – Supervisor
- Lobby Bar
Up to 4 months – Food Runner – Bartender – Supervisor
- Systems – Understanding Visual One, Restaurant Connect, Micros and Delphi
- Finance – Execute and track financial transactions as directed by Restaurant Manager
- Personnel – Lead the service team to a level of high service, job satisfaction, and efficiency
- Service – Ensure 100% guest satisfaction during all meal periods
- Community – Exemplify local community stewardship
- Team – Promote a team mentality within the restaurant and west-side F&B areas
- Must be able to understand and execute financial decisions based on a pre-determined budget and policy
- Must have extremely high level of food and beverage service knowledge
- Wine certifications, culinary certifications considered a plus
- Must obtain high level of communication skills both verbal and written
- Must be able to utilize basic computer programs as management tools
- TIPS and ServSafe certified preferred
• Minimum of High School Diploma, prefer college degree in hospitality.
- Two or more years in the food and beverage industry
- Experience at a luxury property preferred
- 85% standing, walking, working in high stress environment of the restaurant
- 15% sedentary, meeting, working on computers
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds across medium-long distances
