Madden’s is currently seeking the position of Food and Beverage Management Internship. This ten to twelve-week structured program contains assignments that will provide learning objectives that give students the opportunity to gain hands on experience in the food and beverage industry. The internship exposes a student to various positions on the resort: This position will rotate through each of the food and beverage outlets: Fairways Clubhouse, 19th Hole, Lobby Café, Madden’s Market, Mission Point, The Classic at Maddens and the Banquet department.


Duties and Responsibilities:


Banquets:

  • Reviews all Banquet Event Orders on a daily basis to determine staffing levels, location set-up, related supplies and decorating materials.
  • Ensures events are set up on time
  • Maintains and improves on an ongoing basis the presentation of all events at the facility.
  • Monitors overall convention/banquet areas for cleanliness and maintenance issues.
  • Works with housekeeping and maintenance on areas in need of attention.
  • Responsible for training, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Manages department members that may include, but is not limited to: Banquet Server, Banquet Bartender.
  • Works with Event Planning and Conference Services to ensure event details are implemented
  • Assures effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining excellent service to achieve guest satisfaction.
  • Communicates any changes or new policies and procedures to the department.
  • Conducts Preshift meetings prior to every event
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Performs other duties as required.


Restaurants:

  • Ensures guests are attended to in a prompt, efficient and personalized manner.
  • Acts as a liaison between wait staff and the kitchen staff to ensure timely and appropriate

communications.

  • Ensures that the dining room and dining room facilities are kept clean, well stocked and organized.
  • Checks the maintenance of all equipment in the dining room and notifies the Assistant Food & Beverage Manager of needed maintenance and repair.
  • Assures all side work is completed, including all cleaning of equipment and storage areas.
  • Assists in coordinating special functions with the Assistant Food & Beverage Manage or Food & Beverage Director.
  • Assists Assistant Food & Beverage Manager in performing and maintaining food and beverage inventory.
  • Assists with conducting pre-shift meetings to review specials, menu changes, house counts, etc.
  • Assists in the completion of revenue reports, production reports and other reports as needed.
  • Performs daily activities to include: serving tables, bussing tables, seating guests, room service and general clerical/cashier duties.
  • Assists the department manager in interviewing, training, planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Make recommendations when hiring, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees.
  • Addresses complaints and resolves problems.
  • Assists in the coordination of department members that may include, but is not limited to: Hosts, Servers, Expeditors, and Cashiers.
  • Assists in monitoring business volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.


Education/Experience:

  • Currently attending or recently graduated from a 2 or 4 year Hotel Management Program
  • Experience in a customer service role.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Basic reading and math skills.
  • Must be able to keep a calm professional manner under stressful situations.
  • Must be able to answer questions regarding the resort and the Brainerd Lakes
  • Maintains a proactive “Can Do” attitude.
  • Valid Driving License
