Engagement Consultant – New Berlin, WI

Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Engagement Consultant is our inside sales representative and is responsible for successfully culminating recruitment efforts by initiating and pursuing communications strategies and protocols needed to convert prospective members (leads) to registered members. She/he is responsible for securing increased girl and adult volunteer participation as well as the community partnerships needed to implement Girl Scouting within an assigned area.


  • Converts girl and adult membership in assigned areas to meet membership goals and objectives while reflecting the diversity of the area served.

  • Serves as a liaison between the council and prospective volunteers, answering daily questions and emails while maintaining positive awareness of Girl Scouts in the community.

  • Works closely with recruitment managers to implement plan for girl and adult membership growth.

  • Use data to help recruitment mangers and volunteer support specialists recruit new leaders.

  • Makes sales calls/emails to convert leads resulting in membership in assigned areas.

  • Monitor qualified leads, identify trends, and collaborates with recruitment managers on strategy adjustments where needed.

  • Actively works with service unit volunteers and volunteer support specialists in recruitment, placement and support of new adult and girl members into service units and troops.

  • Defines troop campaign requirements based on input from recruitment manager.

  • Maintains reporting documents as requested. Ensure accuracy of data integrity of volunteer systems data base by following policies, protocols, and procedures.

  • Supports policies and procedures of the GSWISE.

  • Models behavior consistent with the Mission and purpose of Girl Scouting.

  • May attend recruitment events, open houses or community events generating leads resulting in membership in assigned areas.

  • Supports ongoing fund development efforts of the council.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Required Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree required, or 7 to 10 years equivalent relevant experience.

  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in membership or sales.

  • Highly organized, ability to multitask, handle pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Proficient in written and oral communications skills.

  • Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends required.

  • Experience and sensitivity in working with diverse people and volunteers.

  • Willingness to subscribe to Girl Scout philosophy program and enroll as a Girl Scout member which includes paying a nominal membership fee annually.

  • Technical computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, customer relationship management systems, and social networking.

  • Have daily access to dependable transportation, valid driver’s license, compliance with the council’s policy of automobile insurance limits, and a driving record that meets the requirements for coverage of the council’s business auto insurance carrier.

  • The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit and/or stand for long periods, and operate office equipment manually. The employee must be able routinely lift 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
