Electrical Test Engineer – Valley City, OH 44280

Candidate will work in a consumer product testing facility. Daily tasks would include designing new test fixtures, programming test fixtures/data acquisition systems, and performing testing on various products or systems

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing electrical test fixtures. Developing schematics, HMIs, and PCBs where necessary
  • Wiring new test stands and troubleshooting existing test fixtures
  • Utilizing latest technologies to develop autonomous test fixtures
  • Performing EMC/EMI testing on components and complete products
  • Utilizing GPS technologies to develop autonomous field testing
  • Developing portable data acquisition systems for use on consumer products
  • Configuring and operating data acquisition systems
  • Selecting appropriate instrumentation and preparing test articles
  • Performing tests on electric motors, electrical systems, and electrical components
  • Interpreting and recording testing results, evaluating data, and preparing written test reports
  • Calibration of testing instrumentation and data acquisition systems
  • Keeping current with technical advancements and worldwide regulations and standards
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting required time lines

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

  • Battery powered analog and digital circuits design including use of embedded microcontrollers
  • Proficient with PCB design and schematic capture software
  • Familiar with current GPS technologies and how to implement them
  • Proficient with electronics lab equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, soldering irons, etc. for troubleshooting and evaluating hardware designs
  • Strong technical skills including hardware design, design for reuse, critical thinking, problem solving and data analysis
  • Strong professional skills including project management, time management, verbal and written communication and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills including teamwork and having a positive, “can do” attitude
  • Manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Understand complex situations and make the best decision

Experience/Educational Requirements:

  • Possess a BS in Electrical Engineering
  • 1-3 years of motor control and/or embedded design experience
  • Experience troubleshooting firmware and hardware
  • Experience with CANbus and/or other multi-controller networks
  • Experience with Altium Designer schematic capture and layout tools
  • Ability to write embedded code for microcontrollers in C or assembly
  • Experience with LabView and PLC programming
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Take pride in their work and be committed to accuracy and details
  • Experience in high volume consumer products preferred
