Position incumbent must have:
Working knowledge of business English and mathematics, office operations, office equipment including personal computer and its uses.
Familiar with various disease processes and be able to understand how those processes can affect a driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.
Considerable knowledge of medical terminology.
Experience working in a medical setting.
Experience evaluating and making decisions regarding medical information (e.e. utilization reviews, quality assurance, medical review determination).
Demonstrated ability to understand and follow office procedures.
Demonstrated ability to read, explain and apply statutes, regulations, policies, and DMV procedures, Motor Vehicle Code and standards; analyze and evaluate data to identify issues presented.
Ability to compose business correspondence that is grammatically correct, clear and accurate.
Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the general public and co-workers.
Ability to read and interpret lab results for blood, urine, etc. medical orders and be familiar with various drugs, their effects, and interactions with other drugs.
Ability to take verbal orders and transcribe medical orders from a physician.
Ability to perform searches and research on the internet and in medical journals and tests to find answers to complex medical questions and changing medical conditions and information regarding new medical technologies.
Reviewing records and making medical decisions on non-routine medical cases and issues.
Ability to review and facilitate timely actions on medical caseloads in order to prevent customers from being suspended unnecessarily.
Ability to prepare medical cases for review by the Medical Advisory Board.
Must be able to assist in the preparation of medical hearing cases.
Ability to work on assigned Saturdays as required and overtime as required by demands of the work center.
