Director of Sales – Los Angeles, CA

Empire is looking for an experienced and accomplished sales director to manage and lead all advertising sales efforts. This role will include growing and managing the US ad sales team, leading a sales operation that continuously generates new business with advertisers and media agencies, as well as grows business with existing clients. This position will begin as a remote position and qualified candidates may reside anywhere in the US.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include the following:

  • Provide strategic leadership to identify and develop a strong understanding of core objectives and challenges
  • Forecast revenue growth; achieve revenue goals as defined by management
  • Hire and train a team of sales professionals to achieve company growth plans
  • Actively engaging with clients, including opening doors for the sales team and leading by example.
  • Identify and close new sales opportunities; meet or exceed target sales goals
  • Plan, prepare, and execute high impact meetings with prospects and partners
  • Manage direct advertiser relationships to increase business, initiate special promotions and new opportunities
  • Maximize revenue growth within existing accounts
  • Execute in a fast-paced, team environment


  • Minimum 7 years overall business experience in sales, business development or account management preferably in online advertising or technology businesses.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in goal oriented sales positions
  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrable track record driving mobile and/or online advertising sales
  • Minimum 3 years of management/leadership experience including hiring and training staff
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with performance-based / direct-response online advertising
  • A strong network of active relationships within the target community, both leading ad agencies and direct advertisers
  • A history of meeting and exceeding sales quotas
  • Natural leadership skills
  • Proven track record with brand and agency sales—past success and established relationships
  • Existing book of business for direct brands or agencies
  • Exceptional sense of organization and attention to detail
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to plan work to meet deadlines and unexpected situations and/or requests
  • Ability to cope under pressure and prioritize
  • Strong understanding of online advertising technologies and landscape trends
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite
