Job Description:
Vertex Software is seeking a hands-on leader with experience running SaaS based enterprise business solutions. The Director of Information Technology is responsible for the daily operation of the IT Department including: IT Operations, System & Network Administration, IT Help Desk, IT Security & Compliance, and additional projects as we scale our business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define, champion, implement, and maintain an overall cloud-first strategy for IT delivery that ensures reliable, flexible, and business partner-focused IT services
  • Develop, maintain, and manage relationships with key stakeholders, procurement, managed service providers, and vendors
  • Establish and maintain IT security solutions according to organizational policies, focus, and priority
  • Ensure that system maintenance activities are completed successfully within acceptable time frames and with little disruption
  • Keep up-to-date on the latest technology trends in the industry and vet/implement emerging innovative solutions within budget
  • Educate and train end-users about utilizing and integrating new technology and programs into their daily work through in-person and multimedia communication
  • Develop strategies for improving customer services relating to technology services
  • Provide appropriate reporting to management based on work and incident status information
  • Identify, investigate, coordinate, and resolve technology problem areas
  • Document and review business system operation/functions and proposed changes/modifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline and/or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years as an IT infrastructure technical lead or architect responsible for large scale infrastructure and implementation of cloud solution programs and tools
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in an enterprise level SaaS based environment
  • Experience with AWS infrastructure automation/orchestration technologies, server, storage, high availability architectures
  • Strong hands-on technical experience, knowledge, and understanding of delivering web applications utilizing AWS cloud solution
  • Understanding of Agile Development Operations and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes
  • Expertise in managing, coordinating, and implementing computer and peripheral systems to include planning, specifications development, purchasing, installation, training, troubleshooting, and repair
  • Knowledge of JIRA or similar ticketing system preferred
  • Experience helping organizations align to security and privacy regulations, certifications, standards, and frameworks such as SOC 2, CSA, ISO, NIST CSF, Privacy Shield, GDPR, and FedRAMP preferred
  • Experience with desktop support in a Macintosh focused environment
