Manage Accounting & Budget staff. Responsible for the accurate and complete preparation and submission of all financial accounting activities for the campus including monthly/ quarterly/year reports, year-end transactions, maintaining a current and complete general ledger, chart of accounts, maintaining the integrity of the student information system (Banner) and all related reconciliations. Also responsible for Accounts Receivable activities and reconciliations; cash accounting and related bank reconciliations; accounting, reporting and reconciliations for campus Financial Aid accounts; management of R&R and capital accounts; accounting, reporting and reconcilations for campus Purdue Research Foundation Accounts.
Coordination of annual budget and all fiscal planning activities for campus in collaboration with West Lafayette Fiscal Planning and Analysis. Reponsible for preparation of central budget for campus and submission of all campus budget materials. Responsible for quarterly anticipated actual projections and budget variance analysis and all related activities and reporting. Prepare annual review and update of Graduate Fee Remission Recovery Rate.
Provide pre-auditor and grant proposal review functions for PNW sponsored programs.
Work with Associate Vice Chancellor and other team members in acting as a change agent, identifying divisional goals, planning with staff in setting annual objectives to meet goals and driving continuous improvement in business processess. Liaison with West Lafayette Accounting, Treasury and other areas as needed.
Establish and foster a posititve, cooperative team enviornment with an emphasis on providing exceptional customer service. Coach, mentor and develop employees.
Performs other dutied as assigned.
Demonstrated technical expertise using computerized accounting systems, databases, spreadsheets and/or work process programs. Strong Knowledge of accounting principles/practices and federal/state regulations. Ability to analyze complex financial information and make recommendations. Ability to coordinate the collection, maintenance and reporting of fiscal data. Must be able to prepare comprehensive reports and develop computer based spreadsheets, graphs, summaries and reports. Must have strong Microsoft Office skills. Must have the ability to prioritize, manage and successfully complete multiple task and work on multiple projects simultaneously. Must have exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and work collaboratively with multiple University constituents. As business needs arise may be required to travel between campuses and/or be reassigned to a different campus location.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field. Master’s degree preferred
5 years demonstrated administrative/accounting/budgeting experience with increasing responsibilities involving fiscal reporting, auditing, general ledger transactions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial analysis, budgeting and supervision. Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial information in a clear, understandable and non-technical manner. Preferred: Experience working with SAP and Cognos.
