The Director, OFAC/Sanctions position within the Enterprise AML Compliance Team focuses primarily on managing and leading a staff in the development and implementation of strategic and tactical solutions for OFAC/Sanctions to protect and minimize operational compliance risk to USAA. The Director will also provide guidance to the lines of business regarding the requirements and risks related to Sanctions Compliance. They provide operational compliance oversight for USAA, its affiliates, and USAA partnerships with external companies. Builds effective relationships with industry and regulatory authorities.
This role will work in close coordination with the Enterprise AML OFAC Compliance Leadership Team, Legal, and the line of business AML OFAC Officers. USAA is looking for a Director, OFAC/Sanctions position to be part of a dynamic compliance environment committed to contributing to an Enterprise-wide AML/OFAC Program through collaboration and team partnerships.
Leads and motivates cross-functional team members in strategy development and implementation of compliance solutions. Independently performs complex assignments, conducts problem resolution, and identifies and executes program enhancements for Enterprise AML OFAC Compliance initiatives. Serves as the subject matter expert on OFAC/Sanctions to ensure documents, projects, processes, and initiatives comply with regulatory and legal requirements as well as Enterprise policy, procedures, and Standards.

Provides oversight and manages through changes in the regulatory environment.
Oversees compliance risk management activities in accordance with enterprise compliance standards.
Directs the review and assessment of state and federal regulatory compliance requirements to include analysis of business impact for enacted laws/regulations and recommended company compliance actions to insure regulatory compliance.
Proactively identifies strategic and tactical regulatory solutions by providing compliance subject matter expertise for CoSA project/process/product initiatives.

Bachelor's degree or 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree (12 years total).
8 or more years of risk, compliance, or audit experience.
3 years of direct team lead or management experience.
Demonstrated experience working in a highly regulated environment.
Expert knowledge of relevant industry regulations and regulatory compliance in a specific area.
Advanced knowledge of compliance laws, regulations and regulatory expectations
Previous experience developing executive briefs and presenting to key internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels of management.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
8 years of work experience in a financial services industry, regulatory organization, or legal/consulting firm, or a combination thereof.
5 years of experience in OFAC/Sanctions compliance work.
OFAC/Sanctions compliance subject matter experience and background.
BSA/AML compliance subject matter experience and background.
Demonstrated ability to understand and apply OFAC and other sanctions regulation to complex scenarios in a fast-paced, real-time environment.
In depth understanding of OFAC’s reporting requirements with an ability to manage preparation and submission of required regulatory reports.
Proven experience working with Senior Management and influencing in a matrix environment
Independently performs complex assignments, conducts problem resolution, and identifies and executes program enhancements for Enterprise AML OFAC Compliance initiatives.
Advanced degree, MBA or JD preferred.
ACAMS certification (or equivalent).

The salary range for this position is: $106,800 – $192,300 *(this does not include geographic differential it may be applied based on your work location)
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
