JOB SUMMARY
The Database Management Specialist will be responsible for the formation and management of databases at Hydra-Flex. This role will be responsible for providing a flow of information throughout the organization, maintaining the integrity of all databases, and reporting on key metrics to help drive the organization into the future. This role is critical as this person will establish database best practices and ensure the company has constant and consistent access to information.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in IT related field
  • 5+ years of experience in database management
  • Data warehouse implementation experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • In-depth knowledge of database technologies, architecture, and data security.
  • Knowledge of best practices in database management.
  • Knowledge and experience using Power BI is a plus.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES

1. DATABASE FORMATION
  • Develops database structures and features according to organizational needs.
  • Supports development, enhancement, and maintenance of multiple datasets.
  • Implements centralized data warehouse that houses all of HFI's confidential data
  • Creates databases for storing data dictionaries and troubleshooting problems.
  • Protects HFI data by developing data security and restoration policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Creates datasets or queries for specific reporting needs.
  • Designs databases with both front-end and back-end users in mind.
  • Develops process improvements for data management activities.

2. DATABASE MANAGEMENT
  • Audits data on a regular basis and ensure data integrity.
  • Performs database maintenance, migration, and upgrading hardware and software.
  • Upgrades hardware and software by assessing transaction processing and database production options.
  • Documents processes and complying with best practices in database management.
  • Keeps up to date with developments and trends in database management.
  • Evaluates datasets for consistency, completeness, accuracy, and reasonableness.
  • Performs data management activities in accordance with customer, company, contract, and regulatory requirements.

3. CUSTOMER SERVICE
  • Understands customer's data needs and provide validated datasets to achieve their goal
  • Interacts with customers and other teams to obtain data requirements for new and existing applications
  • Works with development team to support them with creating database structures and security
  • Assists troubleshooting with data verification
4. OTHER
  • Key member of team for software selection, upgrades, conversions
  • Reports on metrics regarding usage and performance.
  • Other database & reporting duties as assigned.
