Leads a crew of workers in operating equipment, maintaining facilities, and performing maintenance work associated with various projects within an assigned department/division of the County.
Provides direction, training, and assistance to employees; coordinates daily work activities; organizes and prioritizes workload; makes work assignments and evaluates work; monitors status of work; troubleshoots problem situations and prepares paperwork associated with daily activities for program work.
Assists in ensuring adherence to established safety procedures; monitors work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations; coordinates activities to maintain safety.
Assists in coordinating, prioritizing, and overseeing projects; reviews or issues work orders; assists in determining and coordinating necessary equipment, materials, and manpower to conduct projects; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; dispatches crew members, vehicles, or equipment to work sites as needed; reports damage/vandalism, potentially hazardous/dangerous situations, or other problems to supervisor; responds to problems or emergency situations.
Monitors work conducted by contractors; inspects work to ensure quality and compliance with terms of contracts.
Supervises and assists in performing various solid waste related tasks, including but not limited to, customer coordination, facility maintenance, and financial functions related to the daily, compliant operations of the recycle centers and scale houses.
Provides data and documentation to assure compliance with safety, County, State, Federal, and environmental laws and regulations.
Responds to complaints and questions related to division activities; researches problems and provides information; formulates and initiates plan of action to correct problems/issues.
Operates a variety of machinery, equipment, and tools associated with division projects, which may include a utility truck/vehicle, trailer, golf cart, boom truck, bucket lift, backhoe, trackhoe, dump truck, front end loader, bobcat, forklift, all-terrain vehicle, skid loader, baler, trash compactor, tractor, side-arm mower, riding mower, pushing mower, weed eater, edger, blower, hedge trimmer, sod cutter, chipper, sweeper, air conditioner, motors, pumps, air compressor, generator, pressure washer, painting tools, mechanic tools, power tools, hand tools, or two-way radio.
Performs general cleaning/maintenance tasks necessary to keep equipment and tools in operable condition, which may include inspecting equipment, checking/replacing fluids, refueling vehicles, greasing equipment, washing/cleaning equipment, cleaning project work areas, or cleaning shop; monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; reports faulty equipment.
Transports, loads, and unloads equipment and materials used in projects; transports crew workers to/from work sites.
Monitors inventory levels of supplies and materials; ensures availability of adequate supplies, tools, and materials to conduct work activities and maintain an operable site; initiates requests for new/replacement materials; obtains competitive bids and price quotes.
Performs administrative tasks; reviews logs/forms completed by staff members; develops work schedules to ensure adequate coverage; reviews time cards and researches discrepancies; prepares payroll documents and forwards for payment.
Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, daily activity logs, payroll documents, training records, accident reports, cash receipt reports, inspection forms, purchase requisitions, work orders, maintenance records, charts, recycling reports, diagrams, graphs, time cards, leave requests, or other documents.
Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, lists, schedules, work orders, time cards, leave requests, bids, quotes, delivery receipts, invoices, laboratory reports, technical studies, service/maintenance schedules, maintenance records, chemical charts, chemical labels, insecticide charts, operational manuals, material safety data sheets, diagrams, blueprints, construction drawings, building permits, maps, laws, policies, procedures, regulations, standards, directories, manuals, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.
Operates a personal computer as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, utility location system, sewer viewing system, email, or other computer programs.
