Purpose of Position:
This position is responsible for investigating and driving continuous improvement initiatives to help Mack Trucks achieve its strategic objectives. As Mack Trucks Director of Continuous Improvement, you will work in close cooperation with functional owners throughout the organization to identify and remove obstacles for strategic growth. This position takes strategic input from internal and external stakeholders, applies various problem solving methodologies to identify root cause issues, and documents strategic decisions and execution plans. This position will drive cross-functional cooperation within Mack Trucks on continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a strategic partner with functional areas to maintain alignment and compliance with the Mack Trucks 2025 strategy
- Support and coach functional owners in completion of gap analysis, identification of obstacles, and implementation of corrective actions to achieve 2025 strategic vision
- Lead and facilitate cross-functional project teams
- Drive culture change toward a data driven approach to problem solving with an emphasis on root cause problem solving and sustaining improvements
- Ownership of continuous improvement projects
- Proficient use of Lean and Six Sigma methodology and tools including 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Visual Management, Flow, and Pull
- Employ problem solving/statistical techniques
- Identify and remove barriers that slow or prevent achieving Mack’s 2025 strategy
- Promote an atmosphere of internal and external customer focus
- Lead effort to understand all drivers of change in the transportation business working with Volvo Group external resources and map how Mack Trucks addresses these potential changes
- Lead holistic thinking and modelling of decisions as they affect the entire value chain including new trucks, used trucks, parts, service, network development, finance and all Volvo Group BAs
- Lead effort to deliver compelling and action provoking executive level management reporting
- Capture qualitative and quantitative information from stakeholders, ask the right questions and integrate available information into the decision making process
- Lead through example by exhibiting and teaching exceptional problem solving skills including effective identification of problem statements, issues and recommendations
- Be available for short-term and fast paced assignments that serve Mack Trucks in a variety of functions

Essential Educational and/or Training Qualifications and Certificates
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Marketing and Administration, MBA strongly preferred
Preferred Experience and Knowledge
- 7 years’ experience in Strategic and commercial functions within the heavy truck, equipment or automotive industry
- Experience with dealer networks or channel partners
- Experience setting priorities with cross-functional and complex organizations
- Experience with extracting data from enterprise level systems and data warehouses
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred
