The Equitable Access Team works to ensure that everyone has access to the information, resources, and education needed to move HFB towards its vision of "a world that doesn't need food banks". The Community Health Distribution Assistant is a part of the Equitable Access Team and provides distribution and programmatic support for the team. This position is responsible for supporting all aspects of community health distributions. This position displays exemplary customer service to clients, while helping the department achieve poundage goals through highly efficient processes. This position interacts heavily with the public and must be friendly, outgoing, and comfortable speaking in front of groups. Responsibilities include greeting, training and supervising volunteers while maintaining the safety of the food supply chain and other compliance initiatives. Other responsibilities include rotating products and keeping the Market areas clean. Staff in this position must be passionate about helping others and believe in HFB's mission of Food for Better Lives.
Associate degree or equivalent experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Communicate information in a timely manner between various parties. Problem solving in fast-paced environment. Implement processes and provide suggestions for improvement to team. Working with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
Ability to maintain records of materials, supplies, time, and work performed. Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure. Skill in using computer applications including spreadsheet, database and word processing software. Ability to enforce COVID safety rules and regulations.
