The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Center for Communication Programs (CCP) uses social and behavior change communication, knowledge management, research and evaluation, and capacity building, to inspire healthy behaviors worldwide.
The Youth-Driven Communication Coordinator works to build the capacity of young people in Baltimore City and provide social media support to CCP's Baltimore programs, with limited direction and support from CCP staff. The Youth-Driven Communication Coordinator will be most involved in developing and posting social media content related to U Choose, a grant program aimed at improving health and educational outcomes for young people in Baltimore. They will work with the U Choose Youth Advisory Council (YAC), a group of high school and not-in-school teens, to implement the programs' social media strategies and update website content. The Youth-Driven Communication Coordinator is responsible for working with the YAC to develop and implement a social media strategy. Implementation includes building young people's skills so they gain the capacity to develop social media messaging. The Youth-Driven Communication Coordinator will also identify opportunities to include youth voice in other Baltimore-based projects, such as B'more for Healthy Babies, and ensure that all materials developed through this collaborative process are appropriately disseminated. The Youth-Driven Communication Coordinator will serve as a U Choose's consistent link between CCP and the Baltimore City Health Department and the Youth Advisory Council, and provide the day-to-day problem solving, writing and editing, and procurement processing U Choose requires. Once in-person activities resume for CCP, they may work throughout Baltimore to assist with technical and programmatic activities as directed.

Specific duties and responsibilities:
The Youth-Driven Communication Coordinator is expected to perform the following activities competently:
Create and post digital content to promote U Choose programs, topic areas, and resources.
With guidance, develop and implement a health communication capacity building plan for the YAC
Work collaboratively with the YAC to review the social media content they create and to ensure it is published.
Create and maintain a regular publishing schedule.
With guidance, promote content through social advertising.
Work collaboratively with the YAC to update uchoosebaltimore.org
With guidance, collaboratively develop health communication videos and print materials aimed at increasing utilization of sexual and reproductive health services in Baltimore City
Developing monthly social media calendar for B'more for Healthy Babies, identifying opportunities collaboration with partners and for cross-posting with U Choose
Minimum qualifications (mandatory):
2 years of college coursework.
Some related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Demonstrated working knowledge of how to create and upload content onto Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Expressed interest in youth engagement and sexual and reproductive health and a desire for professional growth in these areas.
Ability to set and maintain deadlines and editorial calendars
Ability to work well as part of a team.
Interest in and desire to address issues that affect young people in Baltimore City.
Baltimore City resident preferred.
Prior experience working with young people in any context. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Spanish language abilities preferred.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception.
