Job Summary:

The Foreman will be responsible for, as guided by supervision, to share your knowledge and teach others on your crew how to operate excavators, dozers, wheel loaders and skid steer loaders at an above average level. The ideal candidate must be able to perform the duties required including bending, lifting, walking, kneeling, carrying heavy objects and also accommodate the rigorous schedule the position may demand. In addition, basic knowledge of safety and the ability to teach and monitor safe work practices is required. A company truck will be provided and travel is a must. Primary Responsibilities
(include but are not limited to):

  • Monitor workers to ensure that safety regulations are followed, warning or disciplining those who violate safety regulations. Plan or schedule logging operations, such as felling or bucking trees or grading, sorting, yarding, grinding, mulching, raking, stumping, or loading logs, chips, or debris.

  • Monitor logging operations to identify and solve problems, improve work methods, and ensure compliance with safety, company, and government regulations.

  • Assign to workers duties such as trees to be cut, cutting sequences, skidding, grinding, mulching, stumping, and raking. Meeting all project specifications.

  • Change logging operations or methods to eliminate unsafe conditions.

  • Train workers in tree felling or bucking, operation of tractors or loading machines, grinding yarding or loading techniques, or safety regulations.

  • Monitor and maintain all clearing equipment. Maintain equipment supply s and work with equipment department for repairs.

  • Completing daily job reports, tracking production, tracking / reporting crew hours and equipment hours via HCSS Heavy Job software on a company provided I-Pad. Training for the software will be provided. Basic computer skills will be required.

  • The ability to plan ahead and schedule your crew.

  • The ability to read and understand plans / civil drawings

  • Be motivated and self-supervise as needed.

  • Perform daily safety inspections on all equipment.

  • Coordinate and assist with material ordering as needed.

  • The ability to communicate with crew foremen and equipment operators is a must.

  • Drive, clean and maintain your company truck.

  • Keeping the company truck supplied with commonly used supplies on a daily basis.

  • Travel to and from the various job sites as needed, including overnight stays and out of town travel.

  • Quality workmanship and competence in performing the tasks associated as well as the ability to communicate issues and needs to your supervision.

  • Any other duties as requested.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of experience (10 years plus experience is preferred) in the land clearing/leveling or logging field.
  • Knowledge of earthwork and underground utilities.
  • Knowledge of working with and managing sub-contractors.
  • Knowledge of working with a diverse customer base.
  • Health & Safety regulations and procedures including proper lifting techniques.
  • Accurate record keeping
  • Basic computer skills
  • Three years experience as a crew foreman.
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and organized work habits allowing unsupervised work.
  • A commitment from concept to completion, to do the work safely and right the first time.


Travel from site to site; construction site environment; exposure to dust, noise, toxic materials; waste and infectious materials; work in inclement weather conditions

Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities such as: heavy lifting and climbing; operating motorized equipment and vehicles; work in confined spaces; work at heights; work around heavy construction equipment.
