Responsibilities


Canyon Creek Behavioral Health:

Canyon Creek Behavioral is open and serving the behavioral health needs of adolescents and adults in Temple, Texas and all surrounding areas of Central Texas. Our behavioral health center will provide treatment options for individuals struggling with psychiatric health, chemical dependency and mood disorders such as anxiety and depression.

Canyon Creek will be a 102-bed facility providing inpatient and outpatient treatment, as well as Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT). Inpatient treatment is a form of acute hospitalization for individuals facing a psychiatric crisis. Outpatient care is provided in a less restrictive treatment environment. Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) can be an effective treatment method for patients with severe, treatment-resistant depression.

Qualifications


POSITION SUMMARY

To provide nursing care for psychiatric patients using the nursing process. To assess mental health needs, develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan and evaluate nursing care. To administer and/or monitor the effects and side effects of medications and treatments ordered by a physician. To ensure safety and provide milieu management and crisis intervention strategies. Patients served include adolescents (12-17), adults (18+), and geriatric (55+). To provide leadership and direction for the operations of the unit as directed by CNO. Holds self and others accountable.


CUSTOMERS SERVED:

Patients, families, allied health professionals, physicians, other registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, mental health techs, counselors, unit clerks, administrative personnel, members of the management team, staff from all hospital departments.


QUALIFICATIONS


Education:
Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing – Diploma Preferred: BSN and ANA certification


Experience:
Required: One (1) year RN experience. Preferred: One (1) year inpatient psychiatric experience and previous leadership experience.


Licensure:
Current Texas State Registered Nurse License; Current CPR; Aggressive Behavior Management (ex: Handle with Care/Verbal De-escalation) – within 90 days of hire date.
