Bus Driver (Part-Time) – Wood County, WI

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency required.
  • Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B with Passenger Endorsement, or the ability to obtain one by date of hire; and to maintain a current and valid CDL while employed by Wood County.
  • Possession of a safe driving record and the ability to maintain one while employed by Wood County.
  • Knowledge of Federal CDL guidelines, Wisconsin State Traffic Laws, and of basic defensive driving techniques.
  • Ability and skill to operate a commercial vehicle safely, regardless of environmental conditions present.
  • Participate in and successfully pass Federal Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing program.
  • Basic, everyday living skills are needed, as is the ability to understand and follow oral and written directions (follow basic route information, cooperative, dependable, punctual, and maintain confidentiality).
  • Must possess excellent customer service (the treatment of older and disabled persons, as well as other general public and staff members).
  • Ability to read, spell, write legibly, and make basic mathematical calculations (mileage, gas, and ridership records).
  • Ability to perform necessary maintenance and cleaning of the vehicle.
  • Ability to send and receive verbal communication on a 2-way radio system; also to maintain the full function and operation of a 2-way radio system.
