    The Department of Corrections is currently looking to fill a Buildings and Grounds Supervisor vacancy located at Jackson Correctional Institution, Black River Falls, WI (Jackson County).

    Position Summary:

    The Buildings and Grounds Supervisor will assist with the supervision of a portion of the Institution’s Building and Grounds Maintenance program, providing direct supervision to specified maintenance staff and program direction in the general maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment and institution grounds. This position will participate in project planning, evaluation and management; direct the preventative maintenance, pest control, and grounds programs; determine supply and equipment needs for maintenance; assist with monitoring budget expenditures; conduct health & safety checks/inspections. Assigned responsibilities include the assistance of inmate workers and security staff to effectively carry out program functions.

    Special Notes:

    Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

    The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency to employment. Applicants who fail or refuse the drug screen will not be given further consideration for employment.

    Qualifications:

    Your resume and cover letter should be a detailed overview/summary of your qualifications and must clearly identify your experience and/or training others in EACH of the following areas:

  • Maintaining and/or repairing systems and equipment such as: HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, electronic, plumbing, security, food service, grounds equipment
  • Leading and/or overseeing the work of others (e.g. training, assigning duties, reviewing work, etc.)
  • Planning and/or directing the maintenance and services of buildings and grounds
