Job Summary

This posting is for two positions that will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidates’ education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.

Associate Energy Market Analyst

This position will assist in performing the modeling and analysis that determines Dominion Energy’s generation growth capital and new infrastructure requirements. The modeling process ensures compliance with all the applicable laws and regulations while providing reliable, low risk, and low-cost electricity to Dominion Energy customers over the long run. More specifically, this position will assist in conducting the modeling and analysis for VA and NC regulatory inquiries, proceedings and filings (such as rate case filings, CPCN/Rider filings, fuel cases) with respect to financial analysis that supports the customers’ needs and benefits. In addition, the position supports filings, fuel cases and riders for the regulators in VA and NC while also assisting in the development of testimony and responding to interrogatories. The position assists in completing the modeling, financial and strategic analysis related to the Company’s system capacity resource plan including risk assessment analyses, optimization analysis, rate analysis, and financial implications. Supports conducting the production cost modeling activities used for mid-term generation forecasts and projected fuel expenses. Implements the processes required to maintain the short- and long-term models and to make modifications as appropriate with changing business requirements. Assists in completing the financial and system impact analysis related to new generating units in resource certification proceedings. Assists in performing the analysis to support or deny regulated acquisitions, power purchase agreements or generation asset sales. Understands SERC, NERC, PJM and state regulation reporting requirements related to capacity and generation.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Associate Energy Market Analyst

0-2 years analytical and/or related experience.

Energy Market Analyst

3-5 years analytical and/or related experience.

Specific knowledge, skills, abilities and experience include:

  • Knowledge of energy markets, financial analysis, utility industry operating terms, generation equipment, environmental regulations, economics, financial statements, utility rates, capacity markets and commodity markets
  • Financial modeling experience is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrates business acumen and understanding of financial balance sheets, cash flow and risk analysis
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to comprehend and disseminate information to multiple audiences
  • Ability to develop effective presentations for a variety of audiences and external groups
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities within specified deadlines
  • Previous related work experience.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Bachelor

Preferred Disciplines: Finance, Engineering, Economics
