The University of Colorado Denver College of Architecture and Planning invites qualified applicants at the rank of Full-Time Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor to join a dedicated faculty offering instruction at the undergraduate B.S.Arch and the graduate M.Arch degree program levels within the Department of Architecture. The Department seeks highly motivated candidates, with a well-developed pedagogy and a nationally-recognized record of combining design teaching with a progressive research agenda and/or creative activity. The position is expected to teach required design studios, as well as lecture and seminars courses in the curricular area of building technology. By building technology, we refer to areas of expertise like innovative building structures, resilient active and passive environmental control systems and approaches, and advanced building construction, fabrication, assembly, and prototyping. The expected start date is August 10, 2020.

About the Architecture Department

The Department of Architecture delivers a fully-accredited Master of Architecture (M.Arch) for first professional degree students and post-professional students (those already holding a Bachelor of Architecture degree). Our four-year pre-professional program (BS Arch) prepares students to enter accredited professional Master of Architecture (M Arch) programs across the country as well as graduate programs in Landscape Architecture, Interior Architecture, Planning, Historic Preservation, and Urban Design. The BS Arch program also offers students a network of experienced graduate students, working architects, and other design, construction, and real-estate professionals with practices in Denver and around the world. Our graduate program provides the skills and knowledge specified for graduate study in architecture and is fully accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). Our program responds to and aligns with the evolving nature of professional practice. Collaborative work environments prize critical thinkers, problem-solving team players, builders and leaders with excellent communication skills. Recognizing that the practice of architecture is now global, we provide students with international perspectives and experiences giving them a competitive edge when they enter the profession.

Job Responsibilities
This faculty member will reside in the Architecture Department in the College of Architecture and Planning and will engage in teaching, research/creative work, and service. The percentages allocated are 40% teaching, 40% research/creative work, and 20% service. The standard academic-year teaching load is two courses per semester.
