  • Masters Degree with major in guidance and counseling
  • Valid Nebraska teaching certificate with an endorsement as a guidance counselor
  • A minimum of three years teaching experience
  • Such alternatives to these qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable

REPORTS TO: Building Administrator

Building Administrator

To coordinate all guidance activities in grades 9-12; to assume the responsibility of scheduling senior high students assigned to him/her; to be readily available to provide counseling service to senior high students assigned to him/her

Nine-month year or as established by the Board of Education

Evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the district’s Personnel Evaluation Policy


Computer Schedule:

  • Assume the primary responsibility for the computer scheduling of all students, grades 9 – 12
  • Shall be available to analyze the computer schedule of printouts at the time they are received throughout the year

Summer School:

  • Shall assist the administrators with the summer school attendance and student records
  • Shall provide counseling services for summer school students

School Year Duties:

  • Consistent and punctual work attendance
  • Registers and schedules of all students
  • Assists the Senior High administrators and the Director of Teaching and Learning in curriculum revisions
  • Organizes, maintains, and coordinates student information services
  • Organizes and coordinates the testing program(s) in grades 9 – 12
  • Assists in the orientation of new faculty members
  • Assists the Director for Student Services in organizing parent-teacher conferences
  • Provides career and scholarship information for students
  • Actively participates at scheduled staff meetings and serves on educational committees
  • Relates with staff, parents and community through positive professional cooperation
  • Performs other duties within the scope of employment and certification as assigned by the appropriate administrator

OTHER REQUIREMENTS (Intellectual, Sensory):

  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Skills in leadership, human relations, decision making, problem solving and conflict management
  • Skills in organization, assessment and evaluation
  • Ability to deal with a wide variety of individuals
