The Arkansas Children's Heart Center is considered a high-volume center by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and offers full spectrum surgical and catheterization treatments for congenital heart disease. It encompasses 2 CVORs, 2 catheterization labs including a hybrid suite, a 28-bed Cardiac ICU/Step-down unit and a Cardiac Post-Anesthetic Care Unit. The pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists exclusively care for cardiac patients and when not teaching the fellow one-on-one, perform cases solo and independently. The fellow can access the most complex cases, has abundant learning opportunities for technical skills and clinical management facilitated by the available case volume. The fellow progresses from being faculty-guided to the goal of practicing comfortably with full independence by graduation. Rotations also include echocardiography, perfusion and CVICU. Non-clinical time is allocated for research, academic and leadership pursuits that will offer career advantages well beyond fellowship training.
Our Heart Center has excellent surgeons who perform high quality cardiac surgery with excellent outcomes. The surgeons, cardiologists and intensivists are very approachable and supportive of their cardiac anesthesiology colleagues.
If you would like to be considered for the fellowship position, please send a current CV and a statement explaining your interest in this fellowship to:
